Thanks for this. I thought back to a time when a friend and I used to sit on the floor of her bedroom and draw for hours. I invented creatures with many tubes as limbs, and halos over their heads and rings around their bodies… I still have these drawings somewhere. My favorite character was named “Clyde.” 😂 I am devoted to helping my daughters thrive, primarily; in my own work, I am devoted to honesty.
Michelle, I appreciate my being able to imagine your Young Genius immersed in creative flow and connection with a friend - something so many of us yearn for. Maybe you can retrieve those drawings to remember every day that Young Genius within. And maybe keep a sketch pad nearby? Thanks, too, for sharing your devotion. I'm glad the meditation and Three Questions prompted you.
Thanks! I’ve been doing a method of journaling suggested by Dani Shapiro in her terrific book, Still Writing, that involves a daily sketch of anything you wish. It’s been freeing, and I treasure the sketches I’m amassing, as I don’t consider myself a talented visual artist. Sketching is outside my comfort zone, but the results allow me to play!
That is great. I love Dani's work. I recently pulled Devotion off my shelf again. I'm a sketchy sketcher, too, so I'll look at Still Writing. Like your Young Genius, mine was also immersed in drawing, sketching, and illustrating my "Disguiser" series. I wish I still had them.
