Dear Tracker ~
Join me in the autumn light this morning as we wonder about worry.
The flip side to wonder is worry.
If you’ve read the book Tracking Wonder, you know that some mornings I can wake up to station WRRY playing a recurring song, “You’re No Good” or its twin, “You’re Not Enough.” But often what is playing is just rehashing “problems” I’m supposed to fix or I’m apparently just supposed to fret about as if my mind needs a purpose.
I’ve learned to listen to these refrains of rumination when needed - and I’ve learned how to change the channel when needed to WNDR without bypasing the value of rumination.
In this Shot of Wonder, I’ll take you in the back woods and pass by a haunted cabin as we wonder about all of this with references to Rilke, O’Keeffe, and more. I’ll also share some of the science of rumination in part based on a new study related to entrepreneurship.
Psst…The first Shot of Wonder was free (as/ always will be the Sunday Wonder Dispatch). If you’d like more Shots of Wonder—and a say in shaping what comes next—consider upping your wonder ratio. You’ll gain access to the full Shot of Wonder Library, our Tracking Wonder Handbook, and worksheets.
More good things ahead. Thanks for being here.
If you’d like to see how to turn your worry loops into wonder loops, join me inside this Shot of Wonder.
